Camby – Curved Reflector Panels
Curved panels redirect sound. Concave surfaces focus sound energy toward a specific zone, convex surfaces disperse it across a wider area. The shape of the curve determines where sound goes.
Suspended below the structural ceiling, Camby panels overlap and angle at different pitches to create a layered canopy overhead. The panels appear to float like wood ribbons in space. Light wraps across each curved surface, creating sweeping highlights on the crown of each arc and soft shadows in the concave portions. The ceiling feels like it’s in motion.
This matters in performing arts centers, worship spaces, lecture halls, and anywhere the audience needs to hear clearly without amplification. Curved reflectors work with your room’s geometry to reinforce direct sound paths and reduce dead spots. They also redirect light in predictable ways, giving lighting designers another surface to work with.
Each Camby panel is built to your project’s radius, arc length, and profile. Concave, convex, compound curves, serpentine runs. The geometry comes from your design, not from a catalog of standard radii.
Documentations
Single-axis bends, S-curves, compound curves, and multi-radius transitions are all manufactured in-house. Panel geometry is driven by your acoustician’s specifications and your architect’s design intent. We engineer to the radius, reflection angle, and coverage zone your project requires.
Each panel’s edge returns are finished in matching wood veneer, so the panel reads as a solid carved form rather than a thin bent sheet. Factory-applied finishes in controlled conditions ensure consistent color and sheen across the full curved surface, including areas where grain direction shifts through the bend.
Curved panels require precise hanging points and structural support that differ from flat panel installations. Shop drawings and CAD files are provided with hanging point locations, structural load requirements, and installation sequences specific to your ceiling geometry.
